Banks Lifted Interest Rates

Last tuesday Reserve Bank of Australia raised its offical interest rates to 7%. Commonwealth Bank is the first bank who take the opportunity to raise its interest rates. Commonnewalth Bank lift the interest rates on its variable home loans by 0.3 percentage points to 8.97 percent instead of 0.25 percentage points which is stated by RBA.
The rate raised is joined by two other major bank. St George and Westpac both lifted their variable mortgage rates on 7 February by 0.25%. The remaining major banks, ANZ and NAB are expected to lift their rates within the next few days.
