Chinese New Year ??
December 17th, 2004 | by winsonlee |Joyce blog something about CNY. After reading her blog, it reminds me of those days when i was young celebrating chinese new year. I missed having reunion dinner at home. For those who are still having reunion dinner at home, you should be glad coz you still experience something which i no longer able to experience. My family started having reunion dinner outside when my grandma “fung sap” got worse. During that time, fire cracker was not ban yet. On the day before chinese new year, after dinner my uncle hung a very long fire cracker on the mango tree. By 12 o’clock, the fire cracker was lit and my grandma started praying to invite the god of wealth (choi san) in to the house. All my uncles and aunties were busy chit chatting till around 2+am only they leave. While they were talking, i was busy playing fireworks with my cousins. Then the next day, my grandma and mum woke up early the morning to prepare mi suah with all the roast duck and chicken. I remembered that the dining table were full of food but i cant remember what else were there. yeah … my grandma prayed on the first day (chor yat) as well. Late morning, all my uncles and aunties gathered at my grandparents place to have breakfast. They were busy chit chatting and i watched my cousins gambled. During that time, i wanted to join in playing with them, but my parents never allow me to gamble. Now i got the opportunity to do so, but all my cousins grew up already and most of them are working and they no longer interested in gambling. The last i gamble was in adeline house with all her classmates which all of them were still in secondary school. Suddenly i recalled that wasn’t my last time. The last time was in wang wei place. That was during kee hung, melissa and wang wei birthday which was september. I never like gambling coz all this while i never win once before. It was just for the fun playing with a group of friends only. I never believe in gambling. I believe more in investing. Actually both also is about taking risk. But which one will be a better risk to take is up to you to judge. But as you can see, people dont get rich through gambling. Since i am not working yet, so i cant talk any further about this issue.
Okie… now lets see how my chinese new year like last year. As usual, had reunion dinner at Shahzan Inn, Kuantan. After dinner, my uncles and aunties were busy talking till around 11pm. After that everyone went back home. At home nothing to do, went online and see who was still online on the day before chinese new year. At 12am, wished my friends whom i saw online Happy CNY. Yeah.. that was how my CNY like for this year.
Wondering how my CNY gonna be like for this comming year. My parents will still be here during that time and i will be back home already. As usual, they will be having dinner at the same place. After dinner, either i will be heading back home or going to lai kwan’s house. Do let me know if there is anywhere else i can go. =) I still remember my first year in coll, i spend nearly every nite of chinese near year in lai kwan’s house. There was once i bought satay for the parents. My 18th birthday celebration with lai boon and siu aun was terrific. Three of our birthday was in the same month. So we celebrated our birthday together. Wonder what happend to all my friends whom i knew when i was in my secondary school. Regreted for not keeping in touch with them. Last time always thought that they were still in school, so sure got chance to meet up with them in school one. Time passed so fast and all of them whom i knew in high school all left to college already. CNY that i had three years ago was wonderful. That was the time i met and knew most of the SMTP fellow and also MGS friends. But sad to say that our friendship never got the chance to get close.
