Caraway Bread

INGREDIENT


1) 12 oz (350g) plain floor

2) 3 oz (75g) sugar

3) 3/4 teaspoon baking powder

4) 1 teaspoon salt

5) 1 1/2 oz (37g) butter

6) 6 oz (175g) raisins

7) 1 tablespoon caraway seeds

8) 1 tablespoon grated orange peel

9) 300 ml buttermilk

10) 1 egg

11) 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix in butter. Stir in raisins, caraway seeds and orange peel.

Beat buttermilk, egg and bicarbonate of soda in a small bowl.

Stir liquid mixture into dry ingredients, blending only until dry ingredients are moistened.

On a lightly floured surface, quickly and lightly knead dough until smooth. Place the dough in a container.

Put in the oven for about 20-25 minutes at 180 degree.
